How it works
Getting the most from every sheet
The fewer sheets a job needs, the less it costs. Three things decide how many pieces fit.
Orientation. The same card can fit differently upright vs. rotated 90°. The tool tries both and keeps whichever packs more.
Gap & margin. A gap between pieces gives room for cutting and individual bleed; the edge margin reserves the gripper area a press can’t print. Set both to 0 for the theoretical maximum.
Sheet choice. Moving a job from A3 to the slightly bigger SRA3 often adds a whole row or column — the classic reason shops run cards on SRA3.

How many business cards fit on an A3 sheet?+
A standard 85 × 55 mm business card fits 21-up on A3 (297 × 420 mm) with no gutter — 3 across by 7 down. On the slightly larger SRA3 (320 × 450 mm) you can usually get 24–25 up, which is why print shops often run cards on SRA3.
What is the difference between A3 and SRA3?+
A3 is 297 × 420 mm — the finished paper size. SRA3 is 320 × 450 mm — a slightly oversized press sheet that leaves room for bleed and gripper margin, so more pieces (and full-bleed work) fit. Most digital presses run SRA3.
Why does rotating the piece change how many fit?+
Rectangles pack differently depending on orientation. This tool tests the piece both ways (upright and rotated 90°) and shows whichever fits more — that alone can add several pieces per sheet.
Should I add a gap between pieces?+
For cards cut on shared lines you can use 0 gap. If each piece has its own bleed or needs a cutting allowance, add a small gap (e.g. 3–6 mm). A sheet edge margin reserves the gripper area the press cannot print.
Does this give the exact price?+
It gives sheets needed, which is the biggest cost driver — but final pricing also depends on stock, sides, finishing and setup. Send us the details and we’ll quote it precisely the same working day.
